There are many stories about the origin of the weeping or bleeding heart.  Some say that there was a great warrior born in the Oconaluftee village deep in the Smokey Mountains. His mother, knowing of his future greatness, took the iron heart form her father’s axe and placed it over her own son’s heart. The child grew into a fierce warrior, and no matter what struck him in his heart he was protected by the iron. Some say that the heart was the heart and soul of the axe. It was removed by a shaman during a ritual before a great battle. The axe was then given to a great warrior. The axe, missing his own heart, would then take the heart of any enemy it was thrown toward. This is just one tale of the reason for the bleeding heart stamped out in an axe blade. There’s a ton more stories, but that kind of gives you an idea.  This spontoon style blade is constructed of stainless steel with a stain finish and a weeping heart stamped out.  This peace pipe has a stained wooden handle with faux leather bands, antiqued nails, and metal accents running the length of the shaft. This is a functional peace pipe with the pipe bowl and mouth piece constructed of polished aluminum. Be part of this proud sacred tradition and own your very own peace pipe.

Tobacco was sacred to the many different Native American tribes. The tobacco being burned in a peace pipe is believed to send one's prayers up to the Great Spirit, the creator of all. The Traditional Native American Ceremonial Tomahawk Hatchet Axe Is A Fully Functional Smoking Tobacco Pipe it is a replica of artifacts unique to North America: created by Europeans as trade objects but often exchanged as diplomatic gifts. They were symbols of the choice Europeans and Native Americans faced whenever they met: one end was the pipe of peace, the other an axe of war. The blade and poll of the axe is made of mirror polished iron with a peace pipe for ceremonial purposes.  The back of the axe and the long hollow wood constructed handle forms into a pipe. The shaft is constructed of real wood. Peace pipes are still used today by Native Americans and medicinal purposes. The entire axe is measured at 19", the axe length is 8". The handle is wrapped and decorated. This is a beautiful decorative piece can be used either as a gift or just hanging on the wall.
